Research has found that implanting a chip to the motor cortex of the brain allows free movement to prosthetic arms. Practical use for folks who are paralyzed, and veterans who lost limbs during wars, are able to use their limbs one more time by robotics.
Dr. Hochberg describes: "I think that this is a nice and important step in the field that's
evolving as we try for people who are unable to move their arms or their
legs to develop a technology that would restore either communication or
mobility."
